Rainbows End
After years of living in the desert full time and hosting countless visiting artists and musicians from around the world, artist Chris Veit decided to create a space that would bridge his life and artists friends to the desert. So In 2007 he purchased the last cabin in Wonder valley and founded the Wonder Valley Institute Of Contemporary Art (WVICA). His intention was to create a conceptual space that would function as a connection to “down the hill” for artist living in the desert and simultaneously satisfies the “writers cabin in the woods or the other” for the artist living in the city. Since he knew he wanted to do large events rather then walk through exhibitions and wanted WVICA to be more that just a gallery, he created a board of artist and musicians living in the Los Angeles area that have some connection to the desert musician; Douglas Armour and Chad Brown, artist; Joshua CALLAGHAN and Lisa Sitko. WVICA hosted two events in the last little cabin in Wonder Valley that included video, film, performance, music, paintings, sculpture, photography, and installations. The first show was called CHRISTENING OF THE CABIN, the second show was RAINBOWS END. Shortly after the second show, Chris sold the last little cabin in Wonder Valley to a friend. Now with future plans for WVICA in the Los Angeles area and the desert, WVICA has become an ongoing conceptual space.
