Beach House #3
The cockroach performance consisted of a primary sculpture; a geodesic egg with 5 legs. It had cedar shingles, a carpeted interior, and a rawhide skylight on top, that also functioned as a giant drum head with the entire sculpture then serving as a drum resonating chamber. The other objects consisted of a cockroach costume worn by me, which was made of canvas with a fiberglass shell, and three geodesic drums, and t-shirts that said “we dont die we multiply.”
The performance constisted of three drummers playing a beat and then at a designated point a fourth drummer bangs on the top of the geodesic egg, and I come out in the roach suit and attack the crowd, then an exterminator comes and sprays me with a fire extinguisher.
The sculpture was on display before and after the performance and I heard that some burning man hippies had sex in it.
