Church of the Cult of P / Desserts in the Desert
“the cake society presents an installation of all things cake. Experience the stuffy english formality of afternoon tea in the surreal location of the desert. We invite you to join us for strangely polite conversation, pots of tea and plenty of cake : bring manners and sunblock.
In conjunction with this experiment, the cake society will present ‘100 cakes see art’ and other cake propaganda at the strange animal exhibition opening at LACE.”
“From Highway 62 at Joshua Tree, follow Sunburst Street north until it ends at Aberdeen Drive. From here you must continue on foot. Heading due north, you will trek eight sections of land until you come to a vast greenspace. The road in front of you is called Sonora Road. Look to your left (west) far down Sonora Road, and you sill see a road that cuts across Sonora Road at a kind of kiddy-corner angle. This road is Suprise Springs Road. Walk to it. Turn right on this road and walk north-east until you find yourself in the almost exact centre of this giant greenspace. You will know you’ve found the right place because the earth has been stained a much deeper colour red at the sight. This is the spot where in the days before the new recorded epoch, P gave birth to Art. The red is stained that way from the placenta and afterbirth. Directly underneath this spot, buried underground, is a hollowed-out electrical substation that has been lined with a marble ceiling + floors with alabaster walls. The portal into the substation has been sealed with five seals: one concrete, one steel, one copper, one gold, and one wax. In the very centre of this underground „church“ is an icon of the Cult of P. This icon is digitally programmed to dictate The History of World War II by Sir Winston Churchhill to whomever breaks the fifth seal.”
