Holy Mountain
I wanted to spend time on Garth’s land and proposed to him that I make a sculpture around a boulder that was on his property. He agreed to let me come out and build something and for the next week I went there every day with Roxanne Bartlet and worked around the boulder. At the time I was drawing a comic called ‘Holy Mountain’ inspired by stories from the Ramayana. For the sculpture around Garth’s rock I made a tiny model river that surrounded the boulder. I made two boats that traveled in the river and a series of small sculptures that were the characters from my comic.
